Tensions and competition was high at Trojan Stadium on Wednesday afternoon as Derry Area and Greensburg Central Catholic split the meet. The GCC boys defeated the Trojans, 109-41, and the Derry Area girls defeated the Lady Centurions, 100-44. 

With the results, the GCC boys and Derry Area girls remained undefeated in section play. 

On the girls side for Derry Area, first place finishers included the 4x800m relay of Tessa Hayes, Ella Kubiak, Mikah Horwat, and Gianna Gruska; Hayes in the mile; Jane Huss in the 400m and 800m; Teryn Nuttall in the 3200m; Sophia Mazzoni in the shot put, discus, and javelin; Regan Repak in the high and triple jump; and Reigna Taylor in the pole vault. 

On the boys side, first place finishers for the Trojans included Brady Aliff in the Javelin and Jeremiah Gess in the pole vault. 

Next meet is tomorrow (Wednesday, 4/18) at Mt. Pleasant. If the girls can defeat both Mt. Pleasant and Ligonier Valley, they lock up their third straight section title. If the boys can sweep the meet, they will qualify for playoffs for the first time since 2018.
