Important:  Coaches are not permitted to begin working until all required paperwork has been submitted to the Derry Area School District administration building.

 

Requirements for Paid Coaching Positions

1. Submit a letter to the athletic director that contains your coaching experience, mailing address, and phone number.
2. Physical Examination with Tuberculosis Test
3. Act 168 Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure
4. Act 34: Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Clearance
   • Clearances must be dated within one year of hire date.
   • Employee must renew and submit clearances every five years.
   • Clearances for the purpose of “Employment” are the only clearances that will be accepted.
5. Act 151: Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
   1. Clearances must be dated within one year of hire date.
   2. Employee must renew and submit clearances every five years.Clearances for the purpose of “Employment” are the only clearances that will be accepted.
6. Act 114: FBI Federal Criminal Background Clearance

   • Employee must renew and submit clearances every five years.
7. Act 126: Mandatory Reporter Training
   • This is a three hour training, upon completion, print your certificate and provide a copy to the athletic office.
   • This training must be completed every five years.
8. Act 24: Arrest/Conviction Certification Report

The following two certifications must be completed annually after July 1.

• NFHS Cardiac Arrest Certification
  • This certification must be renewed every year after July 1st and before your first practice.  Once you complete this certification, print the certificate and provide a copy to the athletic office.
• NFHS Concussion & Traumatic Brain Injury Certification
  • This certification must be renewed every year after July 1st and before your first practice.  Once you complete this certification, print the certificate and provide a copy to the athletic office.

The following certifications must be completed after your second year of coaching.

• ASEP Coaching Principles Certification
  1. Must be complete within two years of your original hire date.
• ASEP First Aid Certification
  1. Must be completed within two years of your original hire date.

 

Volunteer Coaches

Volunteer coaches must complete the following clearances and certifications before performing any coaching responsibilities.
