Derry Trojans Impressive In Win Against Valley

Derry Trojans won big over Valley 7-1 on Wednesday.

Derry opened the scoring in the first after Cason Long homered to left field, scoring three runs.

The Trojans added two runs in the third after Michael Aaron grounded out.

Long led things off on the bump for Derry. The hurler gave up three hits and one run (zero earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking two. Brady Moore opened the game for Valley. The hurler gave up two hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking three. Max Doherty tossed one and one-third innings of no-run ball for derry in relief. The righty surrendered two hits, striking out none and walking none.

Long provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Derry  Trojans with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. The Trojans turned one double play in the game.

Niko Heakins, Julian Danko, Moore, Alex Vagnier, and Dante Taliani each collected one hit for Valley. Taliani led Valley with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day.

Derry Trojans play at home on Thursday against Indiana in their next game.
