The Derry Area girls tennis team defeated Greensburg Central Catholic, 4 – 1. In the first singles match, Derry’s Paige King faced GCC’s Alexandra Hoffman. King fell to Hoffman 0-6, 0-6. In the second singles match, Melissa Polinsky faced GCC’s Emilia Longhi, defeating Longhi 6-1, 6-0. In the third singles match, Mia Marsh faced Julia Stilley of GCC. Marsh defeated Stilley 6-1, 6-3.
In double’s teams, Derry Area’s Melody Marsh and Amelia Sobota faced GCC’s duo of Rachel Beeman and Evelyn Campbell, defeating GCC 6-2, 6-1. Derry’s second double’s team of Payton Donovan and Claire VanDerWeele faced AnnaMarie George and Angelina Gajski of GCC. Donovan and VanDerWeele defeated their opponents 6-2, 6-1.
The girls’ next match is home against Mt. Pleasant on Monday, September 9 at 3:45.
