The Derry Area girls tennis team fell to Mt. Pleasant High School, 2-3. In the first singles match, Derry’s Paige King faced Mt. Pleasant’s Bella Fullman. King fell to Fullman 3-6, 1-6. In the second singles match, Melody Marsh faced Mt. Pleasant’s Ryleigh Drzal, defeating Drzal 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. In the third singles match, Mia Marsh faced Kiersten O’Conner of Mt. Pleasant. Marsh defeated O’Conner 6-2, 6-0.
In double’s teams, Derry Area’s Melissa Polinsky and Amelia Sobota fell to Mt. Pleasant’s duo of Danica Trainer and Autumn Jurkovic-Kuzma with scores of 7-6, 2-6, and 5-7. Derry’s second double’s team of Payton Donovan and Claire VanDerWeele faced Ella Alakson and Hannah Shawley of Mt. Pleasant. Donovan and VanDerWeele fell to their opponents 4-6, 2-6.
The girls’ next match is away against Burell on Monday, September 16 at 3:30.
