The Derry Area girl’s tennis team defeated Burrell High School, 4-1. In the first singles match, Derry’s Paige King faced Burrell’s Ava Radvansky. King defeated Radvansky 6-4, 6-4. In the second singles match, Melody Marsh defeated to Burrell’s Jenna Morrison, 7-5, 7-5. In the third singles match, Melissa Polinsky faced Ava Nee of Burrell. Polinsky fell to Nee 6-4, 6-7, 1-6.
In double’s teams, Derry Area’s Mia Marsh and Amelia Sobota faced Burrell’s duo of Olivia Carney and Sarah Waldsmith, defeating their opponents with scores of 6-3, 6-4. Derry’s second double’s team of Payton Donovan and Claire VanDerWeele faced Bianca Bondi and Isabella Harvey-Cowen of Burrell. Donovan and VanDerWeele defeated their opponents 6-2, 6-0.
The girls’ next match is home against Greensburg Salem on Monday, September 23 at 3:45.
