North Catholic Varsity Trojanettes were the first to get on the board in the first after a lead off triple and a bunt
North Catholic added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Clare Kotwica doubled down the right field line, and Natalia Rushak laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run.
Kennedy Brown earned the win for North Catholic. The hurler allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 16 and walking five.
Haylee Myers took the loss for Derry Trojans. The right-handed pitcher went six innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out seven and walking three.
Myers, Doherty, and O’Donnell each collected one hit for Derry Trojans. Doherty paced Derry Trojans with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing five walks for the game.
Derry Trojans welcome 2nd ranked Jeannette Jayhawks on Monday for their first home game.
