Derry Trojans snatched the lead late in their 3-2 victory over Greensburg Salem High School on Wednesday. The game was tied at two in the top of the 6th when the Trojans struck back  

The pitching was strong on both sides. Derry Trojans pitchers struck out 13, while Greensburg Salem High School sat down 13.

Derry Trojans were the first to get on the board in the first when Sophia Doherty singled, scoring one run. Francesca DePalma doubled in her first AB and Sophia Doherty drove a single to right field scoring DePalma. 

Greensburg Salem High School took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Cate Waugaman homered to left field, scoring two runs, to give Greensburg Salem High School the edge, 2-1.

Derry Trojans took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after DePalma led off the inning with a line drive to centerfield and Doherty doubled to centerfield scoring DePalma from first for the second time  

Haylee Myers earned the win for Derry Trojans. The starter allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out 13 and walking two. Alle Scarpa took the loss for Greensburg Salem High School. The hurler went seven innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out 13 and walking four.

Doherty drove the middle of the lineup, leading Derry Trojans with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Francesca DePalma and Doherty were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Derry Trojans. Derry Trojans turned one double play in the game.

Derry Trojans welcome Freeport YellowJackets on Friday for their next game.
