Sophia Doherty hit two home runs and drove in two as Derry Trojans defeated Valley High School 16-1 on Wednesday. Doherty homered in the first and third innings.

Derry Trojans jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Doherty homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Lylah O’Donnell drew a walk, scoring one run.

Derry Trojans added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Bailey Legge grounded into a fielder's choice, and Francesca DePalma scored on a wild pitch. 

Derry Trojans scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. Kameryn Dunlap drew a walk, scoring one run, Quinn induced Alexa Darazio to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Legge homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Doherty hit a solo home run to center field.

Derry Trojans scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. O’Donnell singled, scoring one run, and Francesca DePalma singled, scoring four runs.

Haylee Myers earned the win for Derry Trojans. The pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking none.  Marie Razpotnik started the game for Derry Trojans. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and one run over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking three.

Legge went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Doherty and O’Donnell each collected two hits for Derry Trojans. Derry Trojans had patience at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Dunlap and DePalma led the team with two bases on balls each. Derry Trojans were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. 

Derry Trojans will travel to Knoch Knights for their next game on Thursday. They will play a doubleheader.  Both teams are undefeated in section play.
