Knoch Finishes Sweep of Trojans in Game 2

Knoch Varsity Knights scored five runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Derry Trojans 8-1 on Thursday in game 2 of doubleheader
Knoch Varsity Knights got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Grace Hensch drew a walk, scoring one run, Marlee Fraser singled, scoring one run, Emersyn Jones drew a walk, scoring one run, and Alena Tekely singled, scoring two runs.
Fraser earned the win for Knoch Varsity Knights. The pitcher surrendered five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking one. Haylee Myers took the loss for Derry Trojans. The starter went six innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking eight.
Number seven hitter, Callie Krause, showed the depth of Derry Trojans's lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats.
Derry threatened late in the game. Runners on second and third with 2 outs. Francesca DePalma hit a hard line drive to third baseman Tekely. She dove and caught it killing the inning.
Tekely and Jones were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Knoch Varsity Knights while hitting back-to-back. Tekely provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Knoch Varsity Knights with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Fraser paced Knoch Varsity Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Tekely stole two bases. Knoch Varsity Knights stole four bases in the game.
