Derry Trojans scored 11 runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Highlands High School 18-2 on Wednesday.  DePalma doubled on first pitch of the game and Sophia Doherty singled, scoring one run. 

 Haylee Myers homered to center field, scoring three runs, Kali Henigin doubled, scoring one run, Lylah O’Donnell singled, scoring one run, Francesca DePalma doubled, scoring two runs, Bailey Legge singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and an error scored one run.

Six more Derry Trojans runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 17-0. O’Donnell doubled, scoring one run, DePalma doubled, scoring two runs, and Doherty homered to center field, scoring three runs.

Derry Trojans added one run in the third. Marie Razpotnik grounded into a fielder's choice, making the score 18-0.

M Gorney homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third for the Highlands High School.

Myers earned the win for Derry Trojans. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out five and walking none. Gorney took the loss for Highlands High School. The starter went one and one-third innings, giving up 16 runs (13 earned) on 12 hits, striking out two and walking one.

Derry Trojans collected 14 hits in the game. DePalma set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Derry Trojans with three hits in three at bats. Henigin, Doherty, and O’Donnell each collected multiple hits for Derry Trojans. Derry Trojans stole six bases in the game.

Gorney and B Megats each collected one hit for Highlands High School. Gorney led Highlands High School with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-2 on the day.

Derry Trojans welcome Greensburg Salem High School on Friday for their next game.
