DA Girls Track Splits vs. Norwin and PT

The Derry Area girls' track and field team split their double dual on Friday evening, defeating Penn Trafford 86-64 but losing to AAA powerhouse Norwin 128-22.
The overall winners included the 4x400 meter relay team of Alayna Williams, Gianna Gruska, Emily Laughlin, and Jane Huss, who achieved a new season-best time of 4:23.15, as well as Sophia Mazzoni in the javelin, with a distance of 143 feet, 1 inch.
Several Lady Trojans achieved new personal bests and faced tough competition, including Williams, who ran 28.35 seconds in the 200 meters and 1:03.59 in the 400 meters; Julia Omlor, who recorded 29.08 in the 200 meters; Huss, with a new best of 1:01.65 in the 400 meters and 2:32.53 in the 800 meters; Melody Ann Marsh, who finished the 800 meters in 2:48.32; Lucie Loucks, who set a new personal record in the mile at 6 minutes and 24 seconds; Mikah Horwat in the 2-mile at 14 minutes and 35 seconds; Kayla Ferri in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.88 seconds; Trinity Miller, also in the 100-meter hurdles, at 18.56 seconds and 57.92 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles; the 4x100-meter relay team of Ferri, Laughlin, Julia Mucci, and Omlor, with a new season best of 53.96; Mazzoni in the shot put with a mark of 32 feet, 5 inches; Mucci, achieving a new personal record in the pole vault at 7 feet, 6 inches; and Jayden Gess, also at 6 feet, 6 inches.
The next meet is the senior meet this Tuesday at Trojan Stadium. Senior recognition begins at 3:15, with the meet scheduled to start at 3:45.
