Boys' Track Fall to Both Greensburg Salem and Hempfield; Gess Breaks School Record in Pole Vault

In the first meet of the season, the boys' team lost to both Greensburg Salem, 86-40, and Hempfield, 116-16. However, the highlight of the day was junior Jeremiah Gess, who broke the school record in the pole vault with a jump of 13 feet, 6 inches. The previous record was set by Larry Stauffer in 1971 when he jumped 13 feet. With this achievement, Gess also secured first place in the event.
Other overall first-place winners included Aiden Piper in the discus with a throw of 115 feet, 9 inches, and Stanley Rajkovich in the triple jump with a mark of 44 feet, 5 inches.
The next meet is the Trojan Mixed Relays at Trojan Stadium this Friday at 4:00 PM.
