Trojan Mixed Relays Huge Success

The 2nd edition of the Trojan Mixed Relays was a fantastic success, despite the wet and muddy conditions. With each relay team consisting of 2 boys and 2 girls, the day filled with fun, excitement, and lasting memories! Derry Area finished 4th overall with 66 points, while the team championship was claimed by Franklin Regional with 124 points.
Several teams put on impressive performances, with Punxsutawney winning the 3200m relay in 9:18.35 and Franklin Regional dominating the shuttle hurdles with a time of 1:08.34. They also claimed victories in the distance medley (12:05.28), 400m relay (49.32), and the sprint medley (1:48.98). Derry Area earned their first relay win in the 1600m relay, smashing the previous meet record with an impressive time of 3:57.97.
On the field, Punxsutawney took home the long jump title with a 64' 6" leap, while Greensburg Salem won the triple jump and Franklin Regional claimed the high jump crown. In the throws, Derry Area triumphed in both the shot put and javelin events, while Punxsutawney claimed victory in the discus.
Derry Area also saw success with three relay teams finishing in first place: the 4x400m relay team of Stanley Rajkovich, Alayna Williams, Jane Huss, and Gabe Gess; the Shot Put team of Amiah Altman, Aiden Piper, Allie Leonard, and Levi Haase; and the Javelin team of Sophia Mazzoni, Ricky Daniels, Zoe Frayvolt, and Brady Aliff. The 4x400 team also broke last year’s event record with a new time of 3:57.97.
